About Alonzo

Professional Experience

Alonzo is a  seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience. He has expertise in all aspects of the industry including property acquisition, development and disposition, project management, leasing, contract negotiations, due diligence, risk assessment and budgeting. In addition, he works closely with Owners, Developers & Tenants to facilitate transactions and projects while maintaining a good business relationship, negotiating agreements and exceeding company expectations.

Alonzo obtained the CCIM designation in 2003, a designation held by approximately 10% of all commercial real estate professionals and received my BSE from Princeton in Civil Engineering & Operations Research. He is a graduate of the VA Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Leadership Hampton Roads Program, the CIVIC Leadership Institute, and the Minority Business Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.

Community Involvement

Alonzo is active in many organizations including the Board of Directors of the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs, the Newport News Economic Development Authority / Industrial Development Authority, the Virginia Peninsula Chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, The Virginia Living Museum, the Newport News Education Foundation, and the Newport News Alliance for Youth. 

Alonzo was formerly active as a Board Member and Board Chairman of the Thomas Nelson Community College Local Board (term expired), the Christopher Newport University Luter School of Business Board of Advisors (term expired), and the Newport News Green Foundation (term expired).

Family Life

Alonzo is a native of Newport News, VA, is happily married to Sandra Clark Bell, and has two daughters, Alecia and Alexis. He is also a high school football official and a member of the Peninsula Football Officials Association.
